In fact, according to the U.S. census, there were nearly 170,000 musicians employed in the United States between 2003 and 2005, and that number is increasing. If you are one of these musicians, this is your website.
44% of those 170,000 musicians were self-employed in 2005. That means freelancers that are their own small business and need to deal with things like getting gigs, playing gigs, health insurance, taxes, clients and setting their prices. This is a place for us all to talk to each other - to give advice to those coming after us but also to give advice to one another.

Take, for example, the How Much Should I Charge forum, where you can ask others what they charge for gigs and services in their area. You may not get the same in Sarasota as you do in LA, but it’s useful to know what musicians in LA are charging before you set your price.

We don’t have all the answers ourselves - our plan was to create a place that would ask the questions and help foster the discussion among other musicians.
