Robert Woodard Heath Trio at Pittsfield CityJazz Festival at Berkshire Music School

This year's Jazz Prodigy concert of the Pittsfield CityJazz Festival introduces pianist Franz W. Robert. A discovery of the Vermont Jazz Center, Franz Robert is a Brattleboro-based pianist organist and composer. 17 years old, he is a high school junior. Franz grew up playing gospel music in the church and studied classically with Vladimir Odinokihk. A year and a half ago Franz began studying privately with Eugene Uman and began an intense study of modern jazz. Franz's main influences include McCoy Tyner Oscar Peterson, and Brad Mehldau. Franz has put together a collaboration trio with Eli Heath base and Benny Woodard on drums. They are the Robert Woodard Heath trio. They will be playing selections from various jazz repertoires including bebop, fusion, and their own original tunes....

The concert --free to all-- is sponsored by the Friends of the Berkshire Museum, and takes place in Taft Recital Hall at the Berkshire Music School.
