CECIL TAYLOR + AMIRI BARAKA and IDRIS GOODWIN + CHAZ BOJÓRQUEZ. The Outpost Performance Space, 516 ARTS and ACLU-NM have joined together to present a unique evening of performance and art, featuring legendary jazz artist Cecil Taylor and literary luminary Amiri Baraka performing Diction and Contra Diction, and Hip Hop poet/playwright Idris Goodwin performing This New Mexican Life with Chaz Bojorquez’s calligraphic mural inspired by this piece.

Amiri Baraka and Cecil Taylor have not shared the stage for some 40 years. In this project, Diction and Contra Diction,they explore concepts of art, from the Beat movement of 1950s America to the present. Together, they aim to explore andchallenge wide-ranging concepts of art and personal freedom. Hip Hop poet/playwright Idris Goodwin is teaming up with renowned graffiti artist Chaz Bojórquez to create This New Mexican Life, an interdisciplinary project which incorporates oral history, performance and painting into a culminatingperformance at the KiMo Theatre and a site-specific mural at 516 ARTS. Goodwin’s performance, presented with a projectionof Bojórquez’s mural, weaves together local stories to create a layered piece representing the Albuquerque community....
