The New York pianist/composer Kenny Werner has been leading big bands since the age of eleven and he has an encyclopedic knowledge of jazz. Among those artists with which he has played are Charles Mingus, Archie Shepp and Mel Lewis. He has influenced countless musicians with his book Effortless Mastery, for which he became known as the guru of jazz education. As a composer he’s renowned as well, for example at the Grammy’s, for his lyrical, melodic and never predictable work.
