Huw, who won the BBC cove...ted Jazz Award for Innovation in 2005, has established a name as a sensitive and versatile jazz musician, blending rich melodies with unpredictable minimalism, and exploring the boundaries of rhythm and improvisation.

Huw teaches at Cardiff's Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, when not performing concerts of jazz and classical music for the BBC and undertaking a hectic schedule of jazz and folk music gigs at venues in the UK and throughout Europe and the Americas.

The evening performance commences at 7.00pm with HUW2, an unusual duo in which Huw is paired with the Porthmadog based tenor sax man GARRY BYWATER. Although the duo's repertoire is sometimes drawn from unusual sources, their previous concerts have been extremely well received, probably due to their thoughtful approach and the general compatibility of their own differing styles.

After the interval, HUW2 will become a quintet when Huw and Garry are joined by HUW VAUGHAN WILLIAMS (double bass), ZOOT WARREN (drums) and, from Birmingham, the exciting trumpet virtuoso RAY BUTCHER. This will be a first performance for this quintet, so expect fireworks! (Of the Bebop and Latin jazz type). This is a night not to be missed."
