The Jessica Lurie Ensemble will be on tour in Europe November 4-12, 2010 with
Erik Deutsch (piano/bass) Brandon Seabrook (guitar/banjo) and Marjan Stanic (drums).

Seattle-bred and Brooklyn-based instrumentalist Jessica Lurie brings her individual sound to diverse types of music while preserving their stylistic authenticity. Performing on alto sax, flute, accordion and sings, she is supported by a band that includes piano and keyboard bass, guitar,drums with a bit of banjo and “tape recorder” thrown in,  the music is often “jazz” for lack of a better description. Lurie liberally mixes in folk, rock, avant-garde, Eastern European and New Orleans stylings, with high-energy improvisations between players throughout. It makes for a coherent, compelling and expansive sound, held together by an adventurous  attitude that serves as the catalyst for music that’s loose but never pointless. ...

Jessica appears worldwide with the Jessica Lurie Ensemble, Tiptons Sax Quartet, Living Daylights, Zemog and La Buya. She composes for film and multi-media, has recorded 4 CDs as leader and over 30 as co-leader. Collaborations include artists such as Bill Frisell, Mark Ribot, Erin McKweon, Jacob Fred Jazz Odessy, Mike Clark, Wayne Horvitz, Sleater Kinney, Frank London and Nels Cline.
