Tickets for NATALIE COLE, with comedian Terry Hodges on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 7pm are $85, $75, and $55 (Meet & Greet tickets are an additional $50) and can be purchased by calling the Lehman Center box office at 718.960.8833 (Monday through Friday, 10am–5pm and beginning at 12 noon on the day of the concert), or through 24-hour online access at www.LehmanCenter.org. Natalie Cole, who grew up in L.A. and made her stage debut in her father’s nightclub act at age eleven, rocketed to stardom in 1975 with her debut album Inseparable and earned a #1 single, “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” and two GRAMMY® Awards: Best New Artist and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. More hits followed, including 1976’s “Sophisticated Lady (She’s a Different Lady),” 1977’s “I’ve Got Love on My Mind,” 1978’s “Our Love” and 1980’s “Someone That I Used to Love.” In 1987, she released Dangerous, which sold over two million copies in the U.S. and included three hit singles: “Jump Start,” “I Live for Your Love” and a remake of Bruce Springsteen’s “Pink Cadillac.” In 1991 Natalie took a bold leap. Already a highly successful R&B artist, she amazed everyone when she recorded Unforgettable…With Love, an album of standards from the American Songbook that included a duet with her late father, Nat “King” Cole, on the title track. The album spent five weeks at #1 on the pop charts, earned six GRAMMYs, including Song, Record and Album of the Year, and sold more than 14 million copies worldwide. She released Take a Look, which won a GRAMMY in 1993 for Best Jazz Vocal Performance, and Stardust in 1996, which won a GRAMMY for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. She followed with Snowfall on the Sahara in 1999 and Ask a Woman Who Knows in 2002. 2006’s cover album, Leavin’, received a GRAMMY nomination for Aretha Franklin’s “Daydreaming.” Her latest album, 2008’s Still Unforgettable, won two more GRAMMY Awards for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album and Best Instrumental Accompanying Vocalist. Natalie has made more than 300 major television appearances, from dramas like “Law and Order” and “Touched by an Angel” to talk shows with Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Larry King. In 2010 she released her second book, “Love Brought Me Back.” This spring Natalie made her Middle East debut at the 9th Abu Dhabi Festival, a four-week event featuring artists from eighteen countries, and was invited by Sheik al Nahayan to perform in Istanbul for the Little Dreams Foundation. On Sunday, May 27, 2012 she performs at the National Memorial Day Special, PBS’s highest-rated show of the year, from the West Lawn of the Capitol. She is currently working on a new recording of Latin music.
Terry Hodges, the original host of “Apollo Showtime,” has toured the U.S. and internationally with such artists as Chris Tucker, Patti LaBelle, Anita Baker, Boyz II Men and the O’Jays, He performs at comedy clubs and colleges and has appeared on “Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam,” “BET Comic View” and “Uptown Comedy Club.”
