The Tristan Cappel, Tim Flood, Adam Shead trio will perform two sets of improvised music at 8 pm on Friday, October 13th at Ziggy's Cafe in Ypsilanti. This trio of musicians is firmly rooted in the vast lineage of creative improvisation, drawing influence from such luminaries as Roscoe Mitchell, Ornette Coleman, Rashied Ali, Pauline Oliveros, John Coltrane, and Charlie Haden; amongst others.
The young and enthusiastic reedist Tristan Cappel has performed with such musicians as Gary Burton, Robin Eubanks, John Hollenbeck, and Kendrick Scott, as well as founding the Tristan Cappel Unit who's 2016 release 'Deadbird' found great reception on a regional and national scale. Tim Flood who has been active in the improvised music underground since the 1990s, bassist, composer Tim Flood fist recorded the CD Bodies and Soul with Frank Lowe and Charles Moffett while still a teenager. Since then, he has been a regular member of the Andrew Bishop trio, and has worked extensively with several generations of creative musicians including Jacob Sacks, Gerald Cleaver, Pauline Oliveros, Roswell Rudd, Peter Kowald, Matt Bauder, Jon Taylor, and countless others.
Adam Shead, who holds a BM in Percussion Performance, Graduate Certificate in World Performance Studies, and MM in Improvisation has performed at renowned music festivals both domestically and internationally such as The Chicago Jazz Festival, The Ann Arbor EdgeFest, and The Present is Present Festival in Amsterdam. Adam has performed in adhoc settings with such musicians as Mary Oliver, John Dikeman, Jasper Stadhouders, Tim Daisy, Josh Berman, Ed Sarath, Ada Rave, and John Hollenbeck.
