About
Pianist Ellen Rowe’s Quartet plays elegant, richly melodic jazz originals with modern sensibility. Rowe is a virtuosic pianist who blends dreamy impressionistic abstractions with the carefully crafted bebop lines- she also heads up the University of Michigan’s Jazz Department. Fellow University of Michigan faculty member Andrew Bishop supplies similarly melodic, frequently pensive lines on tenor and soprano sax. Rounding out the group are bassist Kurt Krahnke and drummer Pete Siers.
