Vintage charm, passionate vocals, deep swing and hints of hip hop and R & B define the style of vocalist Heather Schwartz’s Heather Black Project. Classically trained but Inspired and influenced by jazz, blues, gospel, neo-soul and hip-hop, Heather's vocal style is developed and versatile. Her band puts modern spins on early jazz repertoire, taking classics sung by Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday and infusing them with bebop vocabulary and hip-hop rhythms. The Heather Black Project features Ingrid Racine on trumpet, Michael Malis on piano, Josef Deas on bass and Jesse Kramer on drums.
