Veteran Detroit bassist and composer Patrick Prouty celebrates the release of his latest CD Roll the Windows Down, a tribute to the music of Motown and Stax Records. It is not surprising that Prouty would pay homage to the great blues and soul legends of the region, considering he came up under the mentorship of local legends Johnny Bassett and Bill Heid and has toured internationally in the bands of soul songstress Bettye Lavette and Al Hill & the Love Butlers. A bassist with a swinging pocket and soulful solo chops, Prouty’s compositional talent shines when he plays the role of bandleader. Pat Prouty has released three records of original music on his own label Leedle Music, and a number of his compositions have been featured in nationally syndicated television shows. He is currently a faculty at the University of Michigan Flint.
