RJ Spangler will be fronting his Kansas City Six band in a tribute to the great blues shouters of the American Southwest. A blues shouter is a “leather-lunged” blues singer capable of singing with a band, without amplification, according to Spangler, who cites the best as coming out of Depression-era Kansas City like Big Joe Turner, Jimmy Rushing, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson and Wynonie Harris.
