Tuesday, June 5th from 8 to 10 p.m. at Ziggy's (206 W. Michigan Ave, Ypsilanti): "Project 206 takes the formation of an avant-garde jazz ensemble existing in the world of electronics. It is a world brought forth by the detailed creation of synth sounds, outside-the-box arranging, and sensitivity for creating music that brings both originality and depth to Jazz in 2017. The intensity of the band's horn section evokes the improvisational freedom of Sun Ra, and exists beautifully in an orchestral atmosphere that has the trance-like quality of Flying Lotus. The rhythm section is versatile in its ability to move effortlessly from bold, assertive soundscapes to moments that are soft and even reflective. The bridge between the two genres is effortless; the overall sound immersive." Personnel: Peter Formanek on alto sax, Joe Fee on Bass, Derek Worthington on trumpet, Travis Aukerman (drums) and Galen Bundy on Fender Rhodes/synthesizer....
