Ann Arbor tenor saxophonist Tim Haldeman is a forward thinking improviser who has firm roots in swing and bebop. After graduating from the esteemed Community High School jazz program, Haldeman ventured to Chicago, where he became a mainstay on the improvised music circuit. Upon returning to Michigan, he established a jazz residency at the Ann Arbor Elks Lodge, where he performs standards, original compositions and free improvisations, always exuding the influences of Joe Henderson and Thelonious Monk. The late trumpeter Art Farmer has always been a source of inspiration for saxophonist Haldeman, and this quartet, featuring Glenn Tucker on piano, Eric Nachtrab on bass and Jesse Kramer on drums, will pay tribute to the jazz legend on his birthday. Tim Haldeman started playing saxophones more than 20 years ago, and has been performing, touring (U.S., Europe, Canada), and recording with some of Chicago's premiere jazz groups since 1997, including Mike Reed's People, Places and Things, and Matt Ulery's Loom.  He holds a B. A. in Jazz Performance from The Chicago College of the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, and has studied saxophone with the likes of Bob Shepard, Jim Gailloretto, Mark Hynes, and Ron Dewar.
