is a fun and affordable weekly workshop for Musicians, vocalists and instrumentalists of varied skill levels to explore, learn, practice and perform .This on-going workshop emphasizing the fundamental skills of listening,practicing improvisation, and collaboration. In this workshop, participants have the opportunity to learn and practice blues heads, practice improvisation and trading, to analyze forms, to “talk down” tunes, and to explore repertoire and performance skills. Listening and learning from the masters of jazz is strongly encouraged as is private study of the student’s chosen discipline (instrument or voice). Instrumentalists must be willing to transpose and read basic music charts. Singers are encouraged to provide or develop charts in their own vocal key. Sharon LaMotte has been leading jazz workshops since 2003 and brings a rare level of empathy and sensitivity to encouraging instrumentalists and singers....

Joining Sharon LaMotte and Mike Holstein every Monday are
Drummer Micah Thomas and Bassist,Daniel Iannucci will we leading a jazz workshop with Sharon LaMotte on what a rhythm section can do to support an ensemble. Singers and instrumentalist, drummers and bass players are all encouraged to attend this workshop and will surly benefit from what advice this dynamic duo has to offer.

Points of discussion will include : time feel, dynamics, keeping form, building solos, trading solos, counting off a band, knowing what to call a certain style of music, and how to work together as a group.

Micah and Daniel have been playing together for many years in a variety of musical styles and settings. They have developed a two way perspective and have learned what to do and what not to do to make whoever they play with feel comfortable and sound great."
