Johnny Mercer Tribute Featuring Joe Gransden and Robin Latimore with the GSU Jazz Band at Rialto Center For The Arts

“Jeepers Creepers.” “Summer Wind.” “Moon River.” “Hooray for Hollywood.” Everyone knows the lyrics to these songs, among more than 1,400 penned by Georgia native Johnny Mercer, winner of four Academy Awards (from 18 nominations). Hard-bop trumpeter and vocalist Joe Gransden and special guest Robin Latimore join the Georgia State University Jazz Band, under the direction of Gordon Vernick, to “Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive” and pay tribute to Mercer’s incomparable legacy. Plus, Louis Heriveaux, recipient of the Johnny Mercer Foundation Scholarship, has written the music/arrangements for three new songs with Mercer's lyrics that will be premiered at this tribute concert....
