The Alex Coke & Carl Michel Sextet is just so good. Their last Rosette show sold out, and we can’t wait to have them back. The virtuoso ensemble is woodwinds (Alex Coke), guitar (Carl Michel), concert harp (Elaine Barber), pedal steel (Bob Hoffnar), upright bass (Aiden Berg) and vibes (Carolyn Trowbridge). Exploring the boundaries of jazz, classical, new music, folk, improvisation and extended techniques, they have three recordings on PlayOn Records, The Emissary (2021) and Emergence (2023) and their newest album, Situation (2025), continuing their sonic exploration. With new arrangements of compositions by Carla Bley, Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter, Camille Saint- Saëns, Ottorino Respighi plus original compositions by group members Alex Coke, Carl Michel & Bob Hoffnar this is an evening you won't want to miss.
