Austin – The Jazz at St. James’ Concert Series celebrates its 21st year of world-class jazz performances by master vibraphonist Steve Nelson All events in the concert series take place at St. James’ Episcopal Church; 1941 Webberville Rd. Tickets for each evening are $25 in advance or $35 at the door. Student tickets are $15 with a student ID.

Vibraphonist Steve Nelson began his career during the seventies, in his hometown of Pittsburgh, following the straight-ahead path blazed by his first major influence, Milt Jackson. Throughout the eighties Nelson was the vibist of choice among some of his generation's most talented up-and-comers. He developed a harmonically open sound, influenced by the innovations of Bobby Hutcherson, which led him to a spot in Dave Holland's award winning band. During the concert series, Nelson will be joined by Stefan Karlsson on piano, James Gilyard on bass and Andrew Griffin on drums.
The Karen & Gianni quintet is led by Karen Tennison.
