an active member of the Austin music scene, Paulo is a sought after and versatile horn
player, ranging from jazz small/large group music, high energy funk, indie projects, Top

Santos is a recent graduate of the University of Texas Butler School of Music, where he
studied Jazz Saxophone and Composition under Professors John Mills, John Fremgen,

Santos is a recent graduate of the University of Texas Butler School of Music, where he
studied Jazz Saxophone and Composition under Professors John Mills, John Fremgen,
and Jeff Hellmer. Since the age of 16, Paulo has been performing and recording locally
and internationally with hard hitting Austin based bands. These bands include Big Wy’s
Brass Band, Mamafesta (part of ACL 2019 performance), Flyjack, Boss Street Brass
Band, Christian Wiggs Big Band, the Nightowls, the Daniel Dufour-tet, and more.
Recordings of Paulo’s playing include EPs “Portal to Funkville” (2018) and “Lord Dope”
(2019) with Big Wy’s Brass Band, albums “Soul Catcher” (2020) and “Pan Am” (2021)
with Flyjack, album “The Genesis” (2019) by LA based Trumpet player David Young,
Boss Street Brass Band’s latest single “Verified” and more.
In addition to these local bands, Santos has had the opportunity to perform with many
well-renowned musicians from around the Austin area and the world, such as Altin
Sencalar, Ron Wilkins, John Mills, Christian Wiggs, Mike Sailors, Kirk Covington, Daniel
Dufour, Tatiana “Ladymay” Mayfield, Benny Benack III, Randy Brecker, Joe Lovano,
Michael Dease, Andre Hayward, Conrad Herwig, Francis “Rocco” Prestia and Ray
Greene of Tower of Power, and others.
