Fable Records

Formed by Austin-based jazz trombonist Michael Mordecai in 1975, Fable Records is on of the oldest independent record label in Texas. Hailed as the turning point for contemporary jazz in Austin by Billboard Magazine, Fable Records has celebrated the release of albums by artists including Beto y los Fairlanes, Tomas Ramirez, Matt Wilson, as well as a compilation album titled “Live at the Elephant.” Many of the label's titles are now considered highly sought-after collectors' items, including those from Starcrost, 47 x It's Own Weight, and Extreme Heat (formerly named Steam Heat).
