Rio Born Saxophonist Michel Nirenberg and Hot Club of Baltimore Pair Gypsy Swing with Latin Jazz!
In the past year Hot Club of Baltimore has toured both U.S. Coasts and many points in between with guitarist Michael Joseph Harris at the helm. With the release of his latest album, Impromptu, this dedicated purveyor of original and traditional gypsy jazz played countless dates in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
On Saturday, November 10, Baltimore music fans will have the opportunity to hear Hot Club, the city’s busiest touring band, with Brazilian saxophonist and composer Michel Nirenberg. With a chart-topping CD Retrato/Portrait under his belt and heaps of critical praise, Nirenberg is eager to join Hot Club of Baltimore on his second U.S. tour. To date his tour concerts have drawn large enthusiastic audiences and won standing ovations at many venues.
The program will embrace the gypsy jazz of Europe, that has clearly won the hearts of Americans, with the music of southern continents. It also gives Hot Club fans to recall the Latin jazz licks of Michael Joseph Harris, who led the prominent D.C. Latin jazz group Bossalingo before he settled in Baltimore and embraced gypsy jazz. Expect sparks to fly!
For this concert, Harris is joined by amazing Hot Club musicians guitarist Sami Arefin and Bassist Shawn Simon. Michel Nirenberg plays saxophones and clarinet. Get ready to dance in your seat and have the most fun you’ve had in a long, long time.
