He is known for his ability to perform with any lineup, in any genre, for any audience. In May of 2023, Tomás won 1st Place at the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition. In February 2024, Tomás won 2nd Place (and Best Jazz Ballad) at the UNISA International Jazz Piano Competition in Pretoria, South Africa. In August 2025, Tomás won 1st Place at the Rubato International Jazz Piano Competition. Tomás has performed or recorded with celebrated artists including Benny Benack III, Ulysses Owens, Jr., Reuben Rogers, Caity Gyorgy, and Nick Finzer. \nIn 2022, Tomás and Dani met while pursuing their master’s degrees at the University of North Texas. They instantly bonded over their affinity for Brazilian jazz and discovered they had an uncanny musical connection. A Spotify Blend playlist showed them that while their musical instincts lined up around 98% of the time, they had sharp disagreements on the remaining 2%. Inspired by this revelation, they recorded their duo EP, “Two Percent.” This 2% difference sparks artistic tension that makes their performances exciting and keeps them and their audiences on their toes. Their collaboration won them a 2024 Downbeat SMA for Outstanding Latin Group Performance.
