Keller Remington is a 19-year old trumpet player from Las Vegas, currently residing in the Baltimore/ Washington D.C. area. Keller found a deep passion for Black American Music through his parents' love of listening to music. While in high school, Keller was the recipient of four consecutive Student Downbeat Awards, and he performed alongside Grammy nominated Las Vegas icons Clint Holmes and Frankie Moreno, as well as Las Vegas native trumpet player Kenny Rampton. Keller moved to Baltimore to study at The Peabody Institute under the direction of The Richard and Elizabeth Case Chair, trumpeter, composer, and educator Sean Jones. Thomas Schinabeck is a saxophonist and composer from Cleveland. During middle and high school, he attended the Cleveland Tri-C JazzFest Academy weekend program run by local jazz professionals. He played in a Cleveland-based high school all-star jazz combo, Spirit of the Groove, under the direction of professional trumpet player and Jazz at Lincoln Center Global Jazz Ambassador, Dominick Farinacci. With this group, he played with amazing musicians such as Terence Blanchard, Sean Jones, Patrick Bartley, and John Clayton. He is a second-year student at the Peabody Conservator, where he studies under acclaimed saxophonist and educator Tim Green, and Jazz Studies Chair Sean Jones.
Jason Torres is an upcoming Tubist and Bassist who’s catching the attention of audiences along the East Coast. As a child he was exposed to salsa, reggae and classical music. In his early teens, Jason found a voice playing t n high school. Then his life changed when attending Peabody Conservatory, where he found a love for Black American Music. Picking up the bass as part of his studies, it has now become an integral part of his life. Jason has performed alongside spectacular acts such as The Backyard Band, Jeff Bonk, Doug Elliot, Bob Butta, Eric Kennedy, Frank Russo, Mike Noonen, Clarence Ward the 3rd with Dat Feel Good and Rufus Roundtree and the B-more Brass Factory just to name a few. He is pursing his bachelor degree for tuba performance.
Koleby Royston is a 19-year old musician from Denver. Coming from a family of musicians, Royston has been surrounded by music for his entire life. He found his specific love for drumming at age 15, when he attended the Jazz House Kids Summer Workshop in Montclair, New Jersey. Royston has had the chance to work alongside notable musicians including Sean Jones, Matthew Stevens, Allison Miller, Mark Whitfield Jr., Tia Fuller, Mimi Jones, Josh Evans, Julius Tolentino, and others. Royston now attends the Peabody Institute. He feels blessed to have had such opportunities and hopes to continue improving his craft as a Black American Musician.
Leonardo Zurita grew up in the Bay seeing modern jazz masters such as Ambrose Akinmusire, Thomas Pridgen, Howard Wiley and Mike Aaberg. Zurita noticed that these musicians would push the boundaries of the art they were creating, which inspired him to do the same. Zurita is studying at the Peabody Institute under the direction of pianist Richard Johnson and Jazz Studies Chair Sean Jones. Leonardo wants to create a unique blend of sound incorporating many musicians from Thelonious Monk to Led Zeppelin.
