He is the recipient of numerous grants and awards in jazz performance and education, and is a first-choice rhythmist for some of the great luminaries in Jazz, Latin Jazz and Afro-Caribbean music including Hilton Ruiz, Jerry Gonzlez, Dave Valentin, Bobby Watson, Charles Fambrough and crossing boundaries to Aretha Franklin.
