The Westerlies (“prevailing winds from the West to the East”) are a New York based brass quartet comprised of four friends from Seattle, Washington: Riley Mulherkar and Zubin Hensler on trumpet, and Andy Clausen and Willem de Koch on trombone. Trained at Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music, the Westerlies formed in 2011 to explore the intersection of chamber music, American folk music and Jazz. We are excited to kick off the 2016/17 season with the release of a new album of original compositions in collaboration with GRAMMY-winning producer Jesse Lewis (Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma, Roomful of Teeth, Brooklyn Rider, LA Phil), and a performance at the 2016 Newport Jazz Festival.
