Holden McAleer Has repaired and serviced bassoons for many of the world's finest bassoonists since 1978. His areas of expertise include mechanical and sealing work, custom keywork, voicing and tuning. Holden McAleer was a featured speaker at the 1991 and 2003 IDRS Conventions and at the 2001 Convention in Philadelphia of the National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians. Taught master classes in bassoon care, repair and maintenance at the University of Akron, the Peabody Conservatory, Penn State University, Grand Valley State University (Michigan), and Towson University. He has served as a consultant for Moosmann and Schreiber bassoons of Germany, Nobel bassoons (China). Plays bassoon professionally: He is a founding member of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra (since 1983), substitutes on bassoon and contra with the Baltimore Symphony, the Baltimore Opera and other regional orchestras

Earlier studies with Kenneth Pasmanick, principal bassoon of the National Symphony Orchestra. Studied acoustics with the noted acoustician Arthur Benade. He plays a 7,000 series Heckel.
