Brazilian vocalist Rose Moraes hails from south of Sao Paulo. She has introduced thousands of music lovers to Brazilian music through performances in Switzerland, Poland, Brazil and the U.S., where she now resides. She has performed at Zinc Bar and The Iridium in New York City, for Artscape and the yearly sold out Carnival concerts at Creative Alliance in Baltimore, and in countless Washington, D.C. venues and festivals such as D.C. In this concert, Moraes joins forces with Brazilian bassist Leonardo Lucini and percussionist Lucas Ashby. Didier Prossaird plays piano. The group gives an insider’s look on Brazilian jazz from the perspective of samba-canção and bossa nova fusion with Jobim nuances. 
 
You’ll see from this concert that Brazilians write songs worth keeping, while continuing to bless the world with new compositions. As one of the Rose Moraes  “Roots” concerts, this is particularly rich in classic tunes. Listeners may recognize “Aviao” by the great Djavan - a Samba-Funk song rich in melody and harmony. The set list also includes “A Ra,” by Joao Donato - a Bossa Nova with a twist! One of the singer’s favorite compositions is “Ponteio by Edu Lobo (with Capinan). Composed in 1967 and written in the Baiao style, it has powerful lyrics, winning Best Song at the Third Festival de Musica Popular Brasileira. There is much more in store. Music fans who want to log in plenty of fun hours before summer ends will not be disappointed.
