Naomi Moon Siegel
The Seattle/Missoula composer, trombonist, and multi-instrumentalist presents music from her album Shoebox View, a travelogue of folk melodies, fantastical soundscapes, and lyrical, powerful, yet gentle jazz. Her music creates cinematic space that is introspective and celebratory, intimate and full. On this east coast tour appearance, she performs as a soloist on trombone and keyboard with loop pedals and electronics. She is one half of the folk/punk/jazz duo Syrinx Effect, a member of Wayne Horvitz’s Royal Room Collective Music Ensemble and an active collaborator in the NW music scene. In 2012 she received the Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Award for Emerging Artist of the Year. Her music and work is geared toward creating authentic expression and connection. She is passionate about dispelling myths about women in jazz and improvised music, as well cultivating music cultures that create space for musicians to be their fully expressed selves....
