David Bixler relates, "I had become a new member of the Chico O'Farrill Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra, and suddenly found myself entrenched in the Latin jazz scene. It was during a one-off engagement at my daughter's school, PS 75, that I began to think about an outlet in which I could incorporate the different forms of music I was hearing and playing. My wife, a Julliard trained violinist, began to study traditional Irish music. As she shared this with me, a natural process began, to embark on a project that combined jazz with both Afro-Cuban and Irish music.
We released our first CD in 2009 to wide-spread critical acclaim, including four stars from Down Beat Magazine. The group's latest recording SLINK, was released 2014 at Birdland NYC."
