Born in New York City in 1963, percussionist, composer and visual artist Billy Martin dedicated himself to music full-time at age 17, casting himself into Manhattan’s thriving, eclectic musical landscape. He carefully honed his craft everywhere from chamber orchestra stages to Brazilian nightclubs to the underground performance spaces that nurtured the burgeoning downtown improv community. He has published anti -
instructional films, literature, artwork and music worldwide.

Martin is also an accomplished filmmaker and visual artist, whose work has been exhibited in solo and group installations around the world including 2014’s Cartegena de indias Bienal in Colombia and the Drawing Sound series at The Drawing Center in NYC (2015).
