Elysium Furnace Works is thrilled to present the acclaimed virtuoso Dave Burrell as our first pianist for the EFW Solo Piano Festival. Mr. Burrell came to prominence as an influential innovator in New York’s free jazz scene in the 1960's, subsequently playing alongside such trailblazing musicians as saxophonists Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp, Marion Brown and David Murray. In addition to more than forty albums under his own leadership, he has recorded over eighty albums as a sideman, as well as having composed multiple operas, in addition to many other multidisciplinary collaborative works.
