Motian has spent more than 50 years in music, working with jazz luminaries, and influencing the direction of Jazz.
The rare drummer who disliked drum solos, Motian (1931-2011) had been playing and collaborating with guitarist Bill Frisell and saxophonist Joe Lovano, both of whom join this All Star line-up tonight.
