Houston became and remains known for a series of albums for Prestige in the 1960s. He spent many years as Etta Jones's musical partner- recording, performing and touring, and for much of his career this association was what he was best known for. There are more than 75 albums recorded by Houston Person as a bandleader, on Prestige, Westbound, Mercury, Savoy, and Muse, and he has most recently been recording on HighNote.

Over Eric's nearly forty years as a musician in New York, Person has had the good fortune to perform with the vanguard of the jazz world namely McCoy Tyner, Dave Holland Wallace Roney, and cutting edge artists such as Vernon Reid, Ronald Shannon Jackson, and the World Saxophone Quartet.
Eric’s signature sound on alto, soprano, tenor, saxophone and flute has been featured on over fifty CDs, from Chico Hamilton to Ben Harper to Bright Dog Red.
