After a 30-year hiatus, the New Swing Sextet has reunited, evoking the heyday of salsa and Latin boogaloo while introducing elements of jazz and pop that speak to aficionados and new audiences alike.
A product of New York City and the excitement and turbulence of the sixties, the New Swing Sextet made its professional debut performing in the Singer Bowl at the last New York World's Fair in 1965. They have been a popular and innovative exponent of Latin jazz, salsa and pop music for nearly four decades. This band produced four LP’s that are collectors' items today. George Rodríguez, on vibes and English lyrics, wrote all the songs on the 1967 debut “The Explosive New Swing Sextet” for the Cotique label. These band members were as powerful as any sextet of that era....
