Charles Loos - Jeanfrancois Prins - Sébastien Walnier at Columban

This new project joins the creative forces of three generations of Belgian virtuosos.

Master pianist Charles Loos had a classical education, then studied jazz at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He enjoys long-time musical partnerships with such artists as Ali Ryerson, Steve Houben, Maurane, Jean-Pierre Catoul, Richard Rousselet, Serge Lazarévitch, and many more in projects which feature the many facets of his playing and compositions.

Guitarist Jeanfrançois Prins is a melodic story-teller who - with his long-time residence in Berlin and his regular presence on the New York scene - performs and records internationally with many of today’s jazz masters (Lee Konitz, Kenny Wheeler, N.Y. Voices, Bill Evans, Ivan Lins, Eddie Gomez, Billy Hart, Toots Thielemans, Patty Austin, and many more)....

Sébastien Walnier leads a double career - both as a strong voice in the classical world (solo cellist with the orchestra of the “Monnaie” opera house, Talweg trio, his Ô-Celli cello octet….) and as an improviser in the jazz language (in “Blade Runner” with Jeanfrançois Prins, with vocalist Judy Niemack, André Klenes, etc… )

For this new Chamber Jazz project, they will play originals by Loos and Prins, as well as standards and other contemporary jazz compositions.
