The yearly summer course "Jazz au Vert" is a must for advanced musicians or beginners who desire to broaden their musical knowledge of jazz music. The spirit that drives this residential summer course is unique. The students are plunged into the world of jazz and are musically stimulated and enriched on a long term basis.
Every year, the presence of almost 130 students confirms the need and the interest for jazz education. The summer course takes place in the verdant surroundings of the cultural center Marcel Hicter-La Marlagne in Wépion close to Namur. The yearly summer course "Jazz au Vert" is a must for advanced musicians or beginners who desire to broaden their musical knowledge of jazz music. The spirit that drives this residential summer course is unique. The students are plunged into the world of jazz and are musically stimulated and enriched on a long term basis.
Every year, the presence of almost 130 students confirms the need and the interest for jazz education. The summer course takes place in the verdant surroundings of the cultural center Marcel Hicter-La Marlagne in Wépion close to Namur. In 2018, this will be the 34st "Jazz au Vert" (from 15/07 to 21/07).
The course proposes many activities: instrument lessons, collective group playing lessons and harmony lessons as well as masterclasses and African, vocal and rhythm workshops. The most advanced students take part in a Big Band and every night, jam sessions take place in a bar turned into a jazz club for the occasion. The summer course ends with a concert from all students in La Marlagne's concert hall.
