Jake Blount is an award-winning musician based in Providence, Rhode Island. A specialist in the early folk music of Black Americans, Blount is a skilled performer of spirituals, blues, and string band repertoire. Blount’s performances – his recent Smithsonian Folkways release, “The New Faith” – seamlessly merge centuries-old traditional songs with the techniques of modern Black genres.
