Todd Marcus, award-winning bass clarinetist and composer, was born of an American mother and an Egyptian father. Over the past decade, while still remaining true to American jazz styles, he has increasingly explored Middle-Eastern sounds which he has channeled into his stirring original compositions that reflect a range of emotions aroused by the events of the Arab Spring. These compositions have been recorded in his
earlier albums. The new album, Blues for Tahir, continues Marcus’ bold experiments with blending American jazz traditions with the evocative sounds of the Middle East.
