The Bloom/Leighton/Zox Trio will perform high-energy blues, beguiling ballads, and sizzling bebop numbers including Things Ain't What They Used to Be (Mercer Ellington), Twisted (Wardell Gray and Annie Ross), Skylark, Paper Moon, Georgia on My Mind, Tiny Capers (Bud Powell), Apple Jump (Dexter Gordon), and more.

The three musicians have impressive credentials as performing and recording artists. Peter H. Bloom, flute, concertizes in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand and is featured on 40 recordings (Sony Classical, Dorian, Leo, other labels). Acclaimed as both a classical and jazz artist, he performs with noted ensembles including Ensemble Chaconne, Ensemble Aubade, and the world-renowned Aardvark Jazz Orchestra (44th season). He has given lectures and workshops across the globe on such wide-ranging topics as jazz standards, improvisation, new music and historical performance. The Boston Globe called his playing “a revelation for unforced sweetness and strength,” while Arts Fuse wrote, “His solos on flute and amplified flute are always highlights of a performance.” Bloom has appeared with jazz luminaries Charles Neville, Jaki Byard, Sheila Jordan, Geri Allen, and others.
