Born in Messina, Italy in Cettina Donato has been playing piano since age 9. In 2011, Donato graduated Berklee College of Music where she received the prestigious Carla Bley Award and an award from the Jazz Composition at Berklee. She has studied with notable musicians such as Joann Brackeen, Laszlo Gardony and Ray Santisi, among others. She has performed for many years at the Berklee Clinics at the Umbria Jazz Festival, as well as the European Music Festival, Mantova Music Festival and more. Cettina’s first album, Pristine, was received very positively in the jazz community namely by jazz publications such as JaszzITt and Musica Jazz. In the summer of 2012, Cettina recorded her most recent effort Crescendo.

At the Regattabar, the Cettina Donato Group will play an array of music from Crescendo (Jazzy Record Label) celebrating the release of the album. Available on iTunes, CDBaby and Amazon, Crescendo was recorded with a full big band and string quartet. The album will be performed in a scaled down setting by her fantastic group.

Joining Cettina will be accomplished trumpeter Ken Cervenka, recent Berklee graduate Rafael Aguiar, guitarist Scott Free, master bassist Dave Santoro and world renowned drummer Ron Savage, who has shared the stage with greats such as Phil Woods, Christian McBride, and Kurt Elling.

The Cettina Donato Group is thrilled to be performing the music of Crescendo at the Regattabar on July 24 at 8:00 PM and promises to deliver an infectious and unforgettable evening of original music. The Regattabar functions as a full bar and restaurant.
