The fourth Berklee Global Jazz Summit brings together Artistic Director and UNESCO Artist for Peace Danilo Perez and BGJI faculty members master saxophonist George Garzone and world renowned bassist John Patitucci as well as highly acclaimed percussionist Roman Diaz to celebrate the humanitarian mission through music outreach on a global scale.

The concert will present music from the recent BGJI trips to Panama, Dominican Republic, Chile and Valencia, Spain. The Berklee Global Jazz Summit is also a celebration of the International Jazz Day (April 30), a UNESCO designated day of recognition for jazz as a vehicle for peace, unity and dialogue between people.

The Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) is a performance program designed to foster creativity and musicianship through various musical disciplines, with pianist and composer Danilo Pérez as its artistic director. The BGJI provides a comprehensive contemporary music environment where students are given opportunities to explore their creativity to the highest level possible, advance the power of music as a tool for the betterment of society, and connect musical creative thinking with the natural environment.

The concert will feature the same ensembles that traveled to each country and present a mixture of original music and music from Danilo Perez’s latest releasePanama 500. The ensembles feature students from Israel, South Africa, Brazil and The United States, among others. Also performing is BGJI Managing Director Marco Pignataro and drummer/percussionist Jorge Perez-Albela.
