The Keene Jazz Orchestra is enthused to announce its upcoming Spring Concert of traditional and contemporary big band music, featuring renowned jazz harmonica player Mike Turk. A soloist/composer who started by playing blues harmonica then he discovered the chromatic harmonica and its use in jazz. Mike attended Berklee College of music where he learned the methods of Toots Thielemans then incorporated bebop and modern jazz harmonies with chromatic harmonica. Fronting the band with Mike will be acclaimed KJO vocalist Bella Holtz, performing the music of Diane Schuur, Dianne Reeves, and more. The KJO concert program includes a mix of classic and contemporary big band classics, including the music of Woody Herman, Count Basie, Pat Metheny, Thad Jones, Phil Collins, and plenty more excitement.
