Eli & The Hot Six + Rebecca Sullivan is a grand new band that plays in a new style they call Contemporary Classic Jazz. Led by tuba virtuoso, Eli Newberger, they feature swinging New Orleans rhythms that propel brilliant instrumental soloists and a stunning singer, Rebecca Sullivan, to enchanting mini-ensembles and thrilling, full-throated evocations of traditional jazz favorites, show tunes and pop songs from the 1920s to the 1960s. The Hot Six are Bob Winter, the legendary Boston Pops pianist, Bo Winiker, trumpet and flugelhorn, Herb Gardner, trombone, Jeff Guthery, drums, Jimmy Mazzy, banjo and vocals and Ted Casher, clarinet, soprano and tenor saxes. Twenty-something singer Rebecca Sullivan frosts the cake with her swinging vocals.

The band's new self-titled CD comes out in mid-March and it's a sizzling disc.
Proceeds for this show go to Kids for Harmony, a Pittsfield-based music-for-kids program that has the goal of improving the lives of children by strengthening family and community relationships through music.
