Johnathan Butler's career began at the age of 7 in his hometown of Cape Town, South Africa. By the age of 12, he had already won a Best New Artist Grammy in South Africa.. Butler made history by being the first black artist played on white South African radio.He received Grammy nominations for Best R&B Song for his R&B-pop vocal hit “Lies” and for Best Jazz Song for the instrumental “Going Home.”
