Both Chicago natives, vocalist Laura Grill and pianist Brian Friedland first met as grad students at New England Conservatory. Impressed by Grill’s warm tone, technical skill, versatility, and adventurous spirit, Friedland has since employed her to sing music with his jazz orchestra and “Household Items” project (and had her band play his wedding).
