David Liebman’s career has spanned over four decades, beginning in the early ‘70s with his "apprenticeship" period performing and recording in the groups of drummer Elvin Jones ("Live At The Lighthouse") and Miles Davis ("On The Corner"). Since then he has lead his own groups (Lookout Farm; Quest;The Dave Liebman Group) featuring musicians such as John Scofield, Richie Beirach, Billy Hart, Adam Nussbaum, Al Foster, John Abercrombie and Vic Juris. Liebman has consistently placed among the top three in the Downbeat Critics Poll for Soprano Saxophone since 1973; winning first place in both the Downbeat and Jazz Times Critic's Poll in 2011. Liebman is joined by his daughter, Lydia Liebman. Currently a student at both Emerson College and Berklee College of Music, Lydia has been performing for over 10 years as a jazz vocalist. She has shared the stage with jazz greats such as Phil Woods, Billy Hart, Richie Beirach, and Jason Palmer, among others, and at a variety of venues and festivals such as Birdland NYC, The Deer Head Inn, The Beantown Jazz Festival and the Deleware Water Gap Celebration of the Arts.


In 2013, Lydia Liebman and the Dave Liebman Group released ‘Familia’ on the Vectordisc label. ‘Familia’ features the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Brazilian composer and guitarist Guinga. “Jobim is the heaviest of all writers in popular song,” says Dave regarding the project, “his balance of harmony, melody and lyrics is the best of anybody I know.” The album will be performed in full at Scullers Jazz Club.

Also performing is 2013 Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition winner Leandro Pellegrino, bassist John Lockwood, drummer Willy Rodriguez and special guest oboist Caris Visentin Liebman.
