Since its formation in 2005, the Mill City Trio has appeared regularly in clubs, galleries and concert venues all over New England. They are dedicated to the performance of original jazz compositions, although recent concerts have included revved-up versions of "Canarios" by Baroque composer Gaspar Sanz, and "Overkill" by the 80's rock band Men at Work.
Mill City Trio released their debut CD, Solstice, in 2006 to extensive critical acclaim. Their 2008 release, Down Deep, was featured on "Eric in the Evening" on WGBH, Boston and "Jazz New England" on WICN, Worcester. Most recently, the trio has presented concerts in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts featuring "The Syncopated Bird," an extended composition for jazz trio and narrator by Jamie and Drew Dunphy. Mill City Trio is currently performing in support of their third CD, Looking Up, which Music Web Express called, "one of the best guitar-based instrumental jazz albums of 2010," and Vintage Guitar called, "a winner."...
