The Jazz Composers Alliance was founded in 1985, and the JCA Orchestra has been performing new music ever since—driven by a mission to keep the music moving forward and never stand still. The ensemble and its resident composers blend improvisation and composition in fresh, distinctive ways, drawing on a wide range of stylistic influences.The JCA Orchestra has released 12 albums and collaborated with an illustrious lineup of guest composer-performers, including Julius Hemphill, Oliver Lake, Maria Schneider, and Dave Holland.
