Thinkin' Big Big Band at Ryles Jazz Club

Thinkin' Big is an 18 piece big band formed October 2010. The group, led by bandleader and trumpeter Jonah Francese, originated as an outlet for student composers and as an alternate group to gain performance experience. In the two years that the big band has been performing together, it has stayed true to its roots. The group refers to itself as a “tight knit family” and this is evident in the joy and spirit in which they perform.



The group, which features many current Berklee College of Music students and alumni, rehearses weekly and is undeniably dedicated to their craft. With styles ranging from funk, to swing, to Latin, Thinkin' Big's unique sound pushes the limit of modern expectations of a big band, defying categorization and representing a modern-day large ensemble which melds together eighteen individual voices to form one....

In the past two years, they have performed throughout the Boston area at The Lilypad, Kendall Square, The Atlantic Wharf, and numerous appearances at Berklee College of Music. In January 2013, Thinkin’ Big will embark upon their first tour throughout New York City, Rochester, and Toronto. Upon returning to Boston from their winter 2013 tour, Thinkin Big will continue on their quest to spread beautiful music and hit the studio to put out their second album, due out summer 2013.



The group is thrilled to be playing at Ryles on Tuesday, November 2, and promises the evening to be unforgettable with a repertoire of unique originals and newly arranged standards. Vocalist and trumpeter Christine Fawson will be joining the big band as a special guest. Ryles functions as a full bar and restaurant.
