MERIDIAN 71 performs original music that crosses boundaries, characterized by a very unique voice and a global sound with influences that range manly from Jazz and improvised music to Mediterranean and West-African music traditions, as a result of an extensive and ongoing research into various traditions and cultures.
Performing on a regular basis, Meridian 71 is releasing a new album this Fall 2019. The “Metropolitan Sketches” album presents new original works by G. Paradiso and features jazz trumpeter Phil Grenadier, Mark Zaleski on saxes and clarinet, Utar Artun on piano and keys, Malick Ngom on West African drums, Phil Sargent and Jussi Reijonen on guitar, Galen Willett on elec. fretless bass and G. Paradiso on drums & percussion.
GIUSEPPE PARADISO is an active musician both as a bandleader and a sideman. Graduated from Berklee College of music in 2011 and the "N. Piccinni" conservatory of music in Italy in 2007, he has performed internationally at major festivals, institutions and venues such us the "Newport Jazz Festival", "Panama Jazz Festival", Conservatoire Superior de Paris in France, Agganis Arena at Boston University, Stadium San Nicola and Teatro Piccinni in Bari Italy, Berklee Performance Center, Museum of Fine Arts, to name a few. Some his professional collaborations include producer and 7 times Grammy-Award winner Javier Limon, Grammy-award winner Arto Tuncboyaciyan, guitarist pioneer David Fiuczinsky, Italian artists Daniele Sepe, Mario Rosini, Vince Abbracciante, amongst many other internationally re-known artists. G. Paradiso has recorded on several albums, appeared on various television and radio programs between the United States and Europe. From 2013 and 2015 he has been co-founder and co-leader of the In Momentum concert series, based in Cambridge, MA.
